New Jammie bus wheels in

16 May 2005

They're blue (sky blue, actually), and they're here. Ten of the 18 Jammie Shuttles that will eventually replace the current fleet of loaners have arrived on campus, and are expected to start running this week. Built in part in Brazil (the body) and locally (the chassis), the vehicles feature some nifty UCT-specific modifications and mod cons. These include two doors (one to get on, one to get off), audible signals that tell blind students exactly where the doors are, an access-control system, a monitoring system for the drivers, and a tracking device.
