Concert ticket money buys African music instruments

02 June 2003
According to UCT's Head of Functions, Judy Smit, last year's annual Vice-Chancellor's concerts saw R3 600 being donated to the South African College of Music (SACM).

Smit said: “I would like to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to those 180 staff members who chose not to have their ticket money refunded. Their generosity enabled the purchasing of much-needed instruments for the African Music Department.”

This year the concerts, once again presented by members of the SACM, will be held on July 17 and 18, in the Baxter Concert Hall
