19 March 2007

UCT RAG (Remember and Give) and Old Mutual Encounters will host a concert featuring the popular Soweto String Quartet at Kirstenbosch Gardens on Saturday, 24 March, at 17h00.

Tickets cost R55 for adults and R35 for students and learners. Tickets can be purchased at Computicket, the UCT RAG office and Kirstenbosch Gardens. (Tickets cost R65 through Computicket.) The concert will also feature Palms Up, the group that won the recent Launch Your Band competition. UCT RAG is a student's development and fundraising organisation that aims to raise R1.2 million every year for Students' Health and Welfare Centres Organisation (SHAWCO). The money is generated through a variety of projects, among which the Soweto String Quartet concert is an annual favourite. The money donated to SHAWCO is used in aid of the development and improvement of Cape Town's underprivileged communities.
