Indoor soccer builds to a finale

The wind-up: Fuad Mahomed of Soccer Classics gets ready to unleash a shot as Pit Crew's Anton Frantz (in black) moves in to block. Classics won the knockout game 2-0.

Teams taking part in the indoor five-a-side knockout soccer tournament are steadily working their way to the mid-October finale.

The event involves about 50 sides from all the four indoor leagues - super league, premier league, first division and second division.

In addition, the Supa 16 competition kicks off this week. In this event, 16 squads - the two top sides from each of the above leagues - are divided into four groups, first playing each other in a round-robin stage.

The top two teams from each group then move into a knockout phase.

The two tournaments run over lunchtimes, Mondays to Fridays, in the Sports Centre.
