In remembrance
15 June 2017

Dear colleagues and students

It is with deep sadness that we have to inform you that Ms Nombulelo Merile (48) died on Saturday evening, 10 June 2017, just over a month after she was admitted to the Mitchells Plain Hospital.

Ms Merile started working for Metro Cleaning Services on 1 November 2006 and became a UCT staff member during the insourcing of contract staff on 1 July 2016. She worked as a cleaner at the Tugwell residence.

Colleagues say that she was quiet by nature and was a hard-working staff member. She took pride in her work and was always willing to go the extra mile.

She leaves behind her partner, three children and seven grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are still being finalised by the family.

On behalf of UCT, I extend heartfelt condolences to Ms Merile’s family, friends and colleagues for this sad loss.

Sincerely

Dr Max Price
Vice-Chancellor
