Gender justice colloquium

16 February 2009

UCT hosted the Gender Justice and Body Politics Colloquium from 4 to 6 February, which included presentations by 30 researchers in the field.

The colloquium set out to address the challenges of promoting gender justice in a globalised world.

Factors affecting scholars and activists include increasing class differences and widespread persisting poverty, which are experienced in a globalised information society.

The colloquium was organised by the university's African Gender Institute and the Department of Environmental and Geographical Sciences, in conjunction with the Gender and Development Network and GADNET, based at the Centre for Global Gender Studies at Goteborg University in Sweden.
