Thabiso Nkile

Thabiso Nkile has kicked rear yet again. Following his recent success at the World Kofukan Championships in Denmark (see MP 25 no 10 of May 15-21), the 21-year old has bagged another handful of medals at the SADC juniors and seniors all styles karate championships in Zimbabwe in May. Representing Botswana, Nkile won gold in the senior men under-65kg individual kumite (fighting), silver in the senior men team kumite - losing to another Botswana squad - and bronze in the senior men individual kata. In the team event, the two Botswana teams saw off South African rivals in the semi finals. Botswana also took the overall championship crown for the sixth consecutive year, picking up a grand total of 28 medals.
