Stats students scoop national honours

Number one: Zahira Kariel won first prize in the 2002/2003 Old Mutual Student Project Competition, organised by the South African Statistical Association (SASA).

UCT statistics graduates have won two of the top three prizes in a major national competition.


Zahira Kariel and Raymond Hetherington scooped first and third prizes, respectively, in the 2002/2003 Old Mutual Student Project Competition, organised by the South African Statistical Association (SASA). The two won the awards for their honours projects, completed as part of their degree work last year.

Kariel pocketed R3 000 prize money, while Hetherington received R1 000.
