Mike Abia was such an optimist that he updated his CV with the title of a Dr a full ten years before he could attain such a qualification. That dream became a reality when he received his final results and confirmation that he had obtained a PhD in information systems from UCT in June this year.
But that celebratory moment of achievement was short lived as Abia sadly passed away shortly afterwards. His wife, Shuvai, accepts the degree on his behalf and shares about what this degree meant to her husband, the first PhD graduate in their family.
