An ode to autumn

A collection of botanical art titled Wild Harvest: nectar, berries, capsules and seeds, which has been curated by Mary van Blommestein, will be exhibited at the Irma Stern Museum until the end of June.
The exhibition presents an ode to the bountiful season of autumn, and to South Africa’s rich natural heritage.
One of the highlights of the botanical loans is a selection of plates from the publication Wild Flowers of the Transvaal by Cythna Letty, who was the first resident botanical artist at what is now known as the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI).
The exhibition was arranged in collaboration with the SANBI herbarium in Pretoria, as well as the Botanical Artists’ Association of Southern Africa (BAASA), with many members creating new work for the show.
The exhibition is coupled with a programme of events, workshops, a concert, a popup tearoom and weekly Wednesday walkabouts between 10:30 and 12:30.
