The Hasso Plattner School of Design Thinking Afrika (d-school Afrika) at the University of Cape Town (UCT) invites eligible students to apply for the second semester intake of the Foundation Programme in Design Thinking, running from 12 August to 3 October 2025.
This immersive, in-person experience takes place over nine weeks, with sessions held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 to 15:00 at the d-school Afrika on UCT’s middle campus.
This hands-on programme is designed to equip participants with a human-centred approach to problem-solving, working on real-world challenges in diverse, multidisciplinary teams. With a strong emphasis on practical learning, students will explore the full design thinking process – from user research to ideation, prototyping, and testing – supported by experienced coaches and access to creative tools.
Open to final-year undergraduates, current postgraduates, and 2024 graduates aged 18 to 35 from South African higher education institutions, the programme offers an opportunity to build critical future skills such as creative confidence, collaboration, and communication – valuable assets in any career path.
Whether you’re looking to innovate in your field, stand out professionally, or connect with others driven to make a difference, this programme offers the foundation to do just that.
Applications close on 15 July 2025.
Cost: R950
