The Bertha Centre for Social Innovation & Entrepreneurship at the University of Cape Town (UCT) and Douglas Knowledge Partners are running a youth essay competition open to anyone aged between 18 and 30 years who loves writing and has great ideas about the Western Cape’s future.

Entrants are expected to write an essay of 1 500 to 2 000 words on the topic “Innovations for Mental Well-Being” in which they explain an idea to benefit the people of the Western Cape by providing innovative solutions, services, goods or other offerings. Mental well-being is a multifaceted concept that relies on many elements of people’s lives, such as physical health, social support systems, and engagement with the community. Innovation is needed across these different spheres to promote mental well-being across the province.

Competition closes on 31 July.
