In remembrance: Tracy-ann Castle

19 January 2021

Dear colleagues and students

It is with very heavy hearts that we inform you of the passing of our colleague, Ms Tracy-ann Castle (44), on 9 January 2021 due to COVID-19 complications.

Ms Castle joined UCT in 2015 and worked as a clinical educator at the Children’s Nursing Development Unit in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health.

As a fellow student and beloved teacher, she made an enduring impression on children’s nurses, many as friends as well as colleagues. Her deep compassion for children and their families, empathy with students and her encouraging and gentle heart all greatly enriched the growth of children’s nursing on the African continent.

She leaves behind her husband Richard and daughter Kirsten.

The funeral was held on Saturday, 16 January 2021.

The university has reached out to offer support to the Castle family and our most heartfelt condolences go out to them and all who knew our late colleague.

Sincerely

The UCT Executive
