Financial update: UCT receives clean audit opinion
Following the University of Cape Town (UCT) Council meeting held on 13 June 2026, I would like to share a brief update on the university’s financial position, based on the Annual Financial Statements (AFS) for the year ended 31 December 2025 and the management accounts for the period ended 30 April 2026.

Institutional audit process formally concluded

Council statement on recent xenophobic incidents
The University of Cape Town (UCT) Council has noted with concern recent reports of xenophobic incidents and tensions in parts of South Africa. Such incidents are deeply troubling and stand in opposition to the values upheld by the university, including human dignity, inclusion, respect and social justice that underpin our constitutional democracy and our UCT community.

UCT rowers selected for national camp
The University of Cape Town (UCT) student-athletes continue to make waves on a bigger stage beyond campus. It is with great pride that I share that four of our students have been selected to attend the first phase of the South African Coastal and Beach Sprint Rowing testing and selection camp, which is scheduled for KuGompo from 22 to 26 June 2026.

UCT TLC2026: Connection, Reconfigured: Reimagining teaching and learning with AI
The University of Cape Town’s (UCT) annual Teaching and Learning Conference (TLC) provides an opportunity for the university’s community to focus on teaching and learning. Co-hosted by the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHED) and the UCT AI Initiative, the 2026 UCT Teaching and Learning Conference (TLC2026) is scheduled to take place from 17–18 November 2026 and will be preceded by workshops on 16 November.
