In remembrance: Yoliswa Mbaqa

08 December 2020

Dear colleagues and students

We are saddened to inform you that our student, Ms Yoliswa Mbaqa (45), passed away on the evening of 21 November 2020 due to natural causes.

Ms Mbaqa was studying towards an Intermediate Phase Advanced Certificate in Teaching qualification. She was dedicated to her studies, participating meaningfully and freely expressing her opinion. She has been described as a dedicated teacher who aspired to improve herself for the benefit of her learners. Her colleagues were heartbroken at the news of her passing.

Ms Mbaqa will be remembered for her good heart and as someone who was always willing to help those in need. Her endearing personality meant that she was always smiling, engaging with others and up for a laugh. She will be dearly missed.

Ms Mbaqa is survived by her son Junior and daughter Uyanda.

Our thoughts are with the Mbaqa family as they grieve. The university has reached out to the family to offer our condolences to them and all who knew Ms Mbaqa.

Sincerely

The UCT Executive
