University of Cape Town (UCT) Vice-Chancellor Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng will host the first of a series of webinars titled A Women-led UCT from 18:00 to 19:30 on Friday, 28 August.

This is a thought-leadership series for alumni, in partnership with Standard Bank.

UCT is one of only a handful of universities worldwide that has a women-led executive team, and several women make up the university’s team of deans and executive directors.

The first webinar, which celebrates Women’s Month, will be hosted by the vice-chancellor. She will be in conversation with UCT Chancellor Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe and UCT Chair of Council Babalwa Ngonyama.

The webinar will be moderated by Dr Mamphela Ramphele, UCT’s first woman and black vice-chancellor.

The panel will discuss UCT’s new Vision 2030, as well as some of the innovative women-focused initiatives benefiting UCT staff and students. They will also share their personal insights and reflections on women leadership in higher education and across society.

RSVP online by no later than Tuesday, 25 August 2020, in response to the email invitation. On confirmation of attendance a meeting link will be emailed. Queries regarding this event series can be emailed to alumnievents@uct.ac.za.
