In remembrance: Clifford Basil Malan

18 December 2019 | The UCT Executive

Dear colleagues and students

It is with great sadness that we share news of the passing of Mr Clifford Basil Malan (36) on the evening of Thursday, 12 December.

Mr Malan joined UCT as a Campus Protection Services (CPS) officer in November 2017.

Remembered as someone who was always willing to assist, Mr Malan was self-disciplined in both his personal and professional life, exuding a positive and professional attitude in all that he did. His colleagues remember his pleasant nature, professional appearance and how he was always a team player.

Mr Malan is survived by his wife, son, daughter, mother and siblings.

Funeral details have not been concluded by the family at this stage, although it has been confirmed that the funeral will take place in Retreat, Cape Town. Once finalised, the details will be communicated by the CPS department.

The university is keeping the Malan family in our thoughts and has offered them support in this period of bereavement. We extend our sincere condolences to the family and all who knew Mr Malan.

Sincerely

The UCT Executive
