Appointment of new DVC and other updates

Dear students

This campus announcement aims to inform members of the University of Cape Town community about:

1. Appointment of DVC: Research and Internationalisation

Professor Sue Harrison has been appointed as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) for Research and Internationalisation with effect from 1 August 2019. While Professor Harrison will only officially commence in her new role on that date, she will in the interim be transitioning from her current role in the Department of Chemical Engineering at UCT.


2. UCT websites and web policies

UCT websites are governed by web policies to manage the university’s online presence and maintain the institution’s reputation and image online. Current and prospective website owners are urged to familiarise themselves with these policies to ensure compliance.


3. UCT TV video production specials

UCT TV is offering two special packages for creating short promotional or educational videos. Please note that the period for the special packages has been extended to June/July. UCT TV produces a wide variety of work, including multi-camera event coverage, short documentaries, promotional videos, training videos and talk shows. 4. Deferred examinations guidelines

Students are advised to read the deferred examinations guidelines carefully and to follow the specified instructions if they intend to apply for a deferred exam. The guidelines must be read in conjunction with the Senate rules on deferred exams (Handbook 3, G27 and 28). For advice about the deferred exam rules or process, please write to deferred.exams@uct.ac.za or enquire at the Student Records Office in the Masingene Building, Level 4, or phone 021 650 3595. Students are advised not to seek, or act on, advice about the deferred exam procedure or rules provided by other sources.
