Dean of Commerce Professor Don Ross has been elected chair of the Executive Board of the International Network for Economic Methodology (INEM).
This is the global disciplinary association of economic methodologists. The association publishes the main field journal, The Journal of Economic Methodology, organises an annual conference that rotates location around the world, and arranges two symposia at the largest annual meeting of global economists.
Ross's election by the world membership of INEM is recognition of his academic leadership in the field. In addition to his UCT deanship, Ross is also a section director for Methodology in the Centre for the Economic Analysis of Risk at Georgia State University, US.
His main research interests are in the game-theoretic foundations of human sociality; the picoeconomics and neuroeconomics of impulsive consumption, especially addiction; mathematical frameworks for unifying the behavioural sciences with one another and with physics; and trade and industry policy in Africa.
