UCT community donates old jeans for good

02 September 2009

UCT students and staff turned up in droves to answer Levi Strauss South Africa's call for donations of old but wearable jeans for charity on 28 August. Some people brought as many as 10 pairs of jeans, and organisers said the Get Rid of your Jeans for Good campaign went "excellently". One student said he was going to give his jeans away anyway, and saw the "give and take" opportunity as a way of giving back to community. Levi Strauss was exchanging wearable jeans of any colour, size or style in return for R200 vouchers towards new Levi's jeans. The drive was a partnership between Levi Strauss and Rocking the Daisies and 5FM Radio. 5FM's midday DJs Grant and Anele were broadcasting live on campus. The campaign continues at Levi's stores around the country.
