Fencing
  • Two members of the UCT Fencing Club were placed at the South African Junior National championships held at Fish Hoek High School on 22 and 23 March.
  • Roger Fok came in at an impressive second place for the Junior Men's Foil. Mcedisi Jekwa (better known as Junior), who has been fencing for only a year, won all his preliminary bouts and eventually landed himself the fifth position for Men's Epee.
  • Three other UCT fencers; David Xu, Bruna Galvao and Julian Smith, also participated in the event and displayed some brilliant fencing skills.
Rugby
  • Over the last few weeks the UCT XV sides have had mixed results in their encounters with Kuilsriver and Bellville-Tech.
  • The UCT 1st XV suffered their first defeat of the season on 5 April when they lost against Kuils River. The team could not convert their opportunities into points and lost the match 24-29. Kuils River scored four tries against UCT's three.
  • The second and third sides both won their encounters that weekend by 24-3 and 10-3 respectively.
  • The weekend of April 12 was a much better outing for UCT teams with the first and second XVs trouncing their Bellville-Tech counterparts 24-14 and 24-7 respectively. The third XV tied their game 7-7.
  • Rory Mathew, debutant for the first XV had a good game and scored a great try.
