Explore the incredible journey of Zungula Mzikantu Plaatjies, better known as Dizu, a renowned African musician and Professor of African Music at the University of Cape Town (UCT). With over 30 years dedicated to UCT, Plaatjies has used African instruments as powerful tools for cultural transformation and social change.
On 17 and 18 May 2024, the UCT Ibuyambo Orchestra's “Camagu” paid tribute to his remarkable career and contributions to African music as he reaches his last tenure at UCT. The concert was directed by Mhlanguli George and co-directed by Bronwen Clacherty.
