UCT leadership commemorates staff and students lost to COVID-19

Photo Jean Claude Nsabimana.On the eve of the first year since hard lockdown began, the University of Cape Town’s leadership met on the Sarah Baartman Hall stairs to light candles and observe a moment of silence. In her message, Vice-Chancellor Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng recognised those who have died and those who have been affected by COVID-19, as well as the pandemic’s effects across society and campus.
