Prof Jonathan Jansen was awarded a Doctor of Education (honoris causa) from UCT, presented by VC Prof Mamokgethi Phakeng at the morning’s humanities graduation ceremony, where he was also the guest speaker. He urged graduands to consider the ideal of a university as a place where reason triumphs over rage, a place where our common humanity matters more than differences.
