02 August 2018 | Campus Announcement

Dear colleagues and students

The University of Cape Town is hosting a special memorial service to honour the memory of our fallen colleague Professor Bongani Mayosi on Thursday, 2 August 2018, at 15:30 for 16:00 in Memorial Hall.

Academics who would like to wear their academic gowns are encouraged to do so. Gowns can be collected at Molly Blackburn Hall from 09:00 this morning.

The university will be live-streaming the memorial service via www.uct.ac.za. The special memorial service and many others happening on campus are part of our healing process as a community.

If you would like to share your memories of Professor Mayosi or send a message of condolence and support to the Mayosi family, you can do so via RememberingMayosi@uct.ac.za. Selected tributes and messages will be posted on the Bongani Mayosi memorial page on the UCT website.

Bongani Mayosi

1967–2018

The University of Cape Town mourns the passing of Professor Bongani Mayosi, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, who left us on the morning of Friday, 27 July. While this is a very difficult time for both students and staff, particularly those in the Faculty of Health Sciences, it is also a time to reflect on and celebrate the incredible life of one of the university’s finest academics and researchers.
