ICTS had started the process of bringing the UCT network and IT services back up.

Due to a generator failure, the upper campus datacentre is off-line. This affects the network and most core systems. Since we are in the midst of severe load shedding, a decision regarding when and how to restart the services will be taken once an assessment of the condition of the backup power has been made. We will provide further information once available.

In an email to UCT students, Vice-Chancellor Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng said:
“There are multiple challenges on our campus and in our society, but also multiple opportunities. Let us commit together to advance this wonderful institution, to transform it, to continue to transform ourselves, and to leave lasting changes that will improve UCT for future generations of students.”
