University of the Future and the SRC to host challenge event

25 August 2023

Dear students

On behalf of the University of the Future (UoF) Steering Committee and the Students’ Representative Council (SRC), we invite you to the University of the Future Challenge SRC event to be hosted on Friday, 8 September 2023.

Launched in May 2023, the UoF project aims to create enabling places, spaces, services and functions for the University of Cape Town (UCT) as part of Vision 2030.

The UoF Challenge SRC event is an opportunity for all students at UCT to engage in the strategic road mapping of the university, and to co-create our university of the future, one that will be fit for students and fit for the future.

The event will be addressed by keynote speaker, Dr Sizwe Mpofu-Walsh, a lecturer in the Department of International Relations at Wits University. Mpofu holds a PhD from the University of Oxford, and is an award-winning author, UCT alumnus and former SRC president at UCT. Chair of the UoF project, Professor Salome Maswime, members of the UoF steering committee and members of the SRC will be in attendance.

During this session, the UoF steering committee will provide an exciting opportunity to rethink, redesign and realign our current infrastructure and services in response to the recent Call for Ideas.

A student-led panel discussion and co-creation session will be among the highlights to provoke discussion among peers.

We urge you to join this session and be a part of shaping the university of the future, with thought-provoking discussions and entertainment.

Date: Friday, 8 September 2023
Time: 17:00–20:00
Venue: Sarah Baartman Hall

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at this session.

University of the Future Steering Committee
