In remembrance: Zacharia Tlokotsi

10 March 2022

Dear colleagues and students

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of our colleague, Mr Zacharia Ramasimong Tlokotsi (43), on 27 February 2022 after a long illness.

Mr Tlokotsi, known as Thabo by his colleagues, was a computer laboratory manager at the Humanities Central Technology Unit in the Faculty of Humanities. He joined the University of Cape Town (UCT) in April 2016.

Colleagues described his passing as a terrible loss to all in the department and said the void he left behind will affect all of them, both professionally and personally. He will be remembered for his jolly laugher and cheerful personality. Family and relatives will remember him for his kindness and generosity.

Mr Tlokotsi is survived by his wife Morongwe; sons, Lehlohonolo and Omphile; and daughter Bokamoso. He was laid to rest on Saturday, 5 March 2022 at his hometown in Evaton, Gauteng.

The university has reached out to offer support to the Tlokotsi family and our sincere condolences go out to them and all who knew and loved him during this time of bereavement.

Sincerely

The UCT Executive
