In remembrance: Oarabile Maiketso

10 July 2020

Dear students and colleagues

We are deeply saddened to inform you that Mr Oarabile Maiketso (27) passed on at his family home on Thursday, 9 July 2020.

Mr Maiketso was doing his honours in psychology.

He will be remembered as a caring, kind and very selfless person. He was very smart, and his dry sense of humour always brought a cheer to those around him. His family also remembers him for being a fighter, which is illustrated by how he fought on despite any circumstances in which he found himself.

Mr Maiketso leaves behind his parents, Kagiso and Esther, as well as three sisters – Kegomoditswe, Kopano and Botshepegi.

An online memorial service for Mr Maiketso will be held on Saturday, 11 July at 14:00. Mr Maiketso’s funeral will take place on Sunday, 12 July in Rustenburg, North West.

The university has been in contact with the Maiketso family to offer support and convey our condolences. Our thoughts are with the family and everyone who knew Mr Maiketso in this difficult period.

Sincerely

The UCT Executive
