In remembrance: Sedeeka Dulvie

20 April 2020

Dear students and colleagues

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of postgraduate student, Ms Sedeeka Dulvie (25), on 2 April 2020 following a long illness.

Ms Dulvie was a Biokinetics Honours student in the Faculty of Health Sciences. Passionate about sport, she played softball and sometimes worked as a sport massagist at football games. She also ran her own sport massage therapy practice from her home.

Her passing has affected many in the Division of Exercise and Sports Medicine. Even though COVID-19 lockdown regulations prevented her peers and lecturers from attending her funeral, the division observed this moment together with a virtual minute’s silence before her final farewell on 2 April.

Regarded by her peers as a wonderful person inside and out, her love, compassion and the joy shown to others will continue to shine through in everything and through everyone she came into contact with.

Ms Dulvie is survived by her husband Abdul Saleem, parents Shamiel and Shaieda, a younger brother and older sister.

The university extends its deepest condolences to Ms Dulvie’s family and all those who knew her, wishing them great strength during this sad time.

Sincerely

The UCT Executive
