Aspiring University of Cape Town (UCT) student entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs are invited to enter the Entrepreneurship Intervarsity 2020 for a chance to win R100 000 and the national Studentpreneur of the Year 2020 title.

The competition is open to currently registered undergraduate and postgraduate students in good standing. It aims to identify the top student business brains across the country’s 26 public universities, showcase their businesses and attract investors. It’s also a golden opportunity for these institutions to show how they support and grow the next generation of business leaders.

Students can enter one of four categories:

  • Business Ideas
  • Existing Business – Tech
  • Existing Business – Social Impact
  • Existing Business – General.

The Entrepreneurship Intervarsity 2020 is a win-win for student entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs, as they stand to gain plenty of exposure, cash prizes and a crack at the grand prize.

Shortlisted entries in the four categories at each university will compete in an internal round. The winners then compete in a regional round (UCT will compete against Stellenbosch University, the University of the Western Cape, the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and UNISA).

The regional winners of each category will compete in the national finals. National category winners will win cash prizes and qualify for business support and mentorship. The overall winner will be announced at the grand finale on Tuesday, 7 July, in Pretoria.

The competition is funded through the Department of Higher Education, Science and Technology’s University Capacity Development Programme and supported by Universities South Africa and its partners.

Entries close on Monday, 2 March. Go to www.edhe.co.za to register your entry.
