In remembrance: Peter Mqolombeli

19 November 2019 | The UCT Executive

Dear colleagues and students

It is with profound sadness that we write to inform you of the death of Mr Peter Mqolombeli (38), a campus protection officer at the University of Cape Town (UCT). He died of natural causes on his way to the Eastern Cape on the afternoon of Tuesday, 12 November 2019.

Mr Mqolombeli started working at UCT on 1 July 2016. Colleagues say he will be remembered for his willingness to assist wherever he could. He has been described as a person who was self-disciplined and displayed a commitment towards his work, was a pleasant person to work with and a good team player.

A memorial service has been arranged for Tuesday, 19 November 2019, in Lecture Theatre 2A in the Robert Leslie Social Science Building on Upper Campus from 9:00 to 12:00. His funeral will take place on Saturday, 23 November 2019 in Matatiele, Eastern Cape. Mr Mqolombeli is survived by two children and three siblings.

We convey our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and all who knew him.

Sincerely

The UCT Executive
