The competition, which pits competing teams from UCT, Stellenbosch University (Maties), Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) and newcomers Varsity College (VC) against one another at a variety of sports, was hosted by CPUT for the first time since its inception.

Students competed in 22 different sporting codes, with the results contributing points to the overall standings. UCT’s performance in chess, canoeing, surfing and table tennis helped the institution secure a comfortable five-point lead.
