Agreement with unions and other updates

Dear students and colleagues

This campus announcement aims to inform members of the University of Cape Town community about:

1. Agreement reached with trade unions

Following negotiations with the unions, the UCT executive announced on Thursday, 14 September 2017, that an agreement has been reached. The agreement establishes a joint consultative forum and a special task team to tackle any residual issues following the insourcing exercise last year.


2. Road closures for the Cape Town Marathon

On the morning of Sunday, 17 September 2017, the Jammie Shuttle service and general traffic will be impacted by road closures for the Cape Town Marathon. From 06:40 to 09:40 the Main Road city-bound carriageway from the N2 to Protea Bridge in Claremont will be affected. This includes the cross-overs to, or from, all mountainside intersections, including Rhodes Avenue, Woolsack Drive, Grotto Road, Klipper Road and Dean Street. The Jammie Shuttle service will only start operating after 10:00.


3. Call for directors for UCT spin-off company

The UCT Intellectual Property Advisory Committee (IPAC) is seeking to establish a pool of potential directors who can be appointed to serve on the board of a spin-off company, for which UCT is entitled to nominate a board member. The position is voluntary and no remuneration is offered. If you are interested, please send a brief CV indicating your areas of expertise and experience to Bianca Daniels by 29 September 2017.
