23 November 2016

Dear students

In response to the agreement signed on Sunday, 7 November 2016, the University of Cape Town executive, along with Shackville TRC/the SRC Candidates, members of the UCT Student Representative Council and other student representatives, have established a Rapid Response Task Team. The task team's primary role at present is to oversee the implementation and monitoring of the agreement, while ensuring that any obstacles that might impede this implementation are mitigated and resolved timeously.

Secondly, the Rapid Response Task Team will attend to and/or alert the relevant university structures to issues that have arisen as a result of the protest action, but which were not initially catered for or accounted for in the agreement.

The task team meets regularly to troubleshoot any problems which might arise as a result of the current situation, and to address issues that need urgent attention.

The task team will discuss progress in implementing the agreement. Shortly, we will send a more comprehensive communication detailing the work of the task team to date. We felt it would be appropriate to send this communication now, to ensure that all staff and students have the task team?s email address, which can be used to alert the task team to urgent matters.

If you would like to communicate with the task team, please send an email to rapidresponseteam@uct.ac.za.

Sincerely

Professor Anwar Mall
Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor
