20 May 2016

Dear colleagues,

It is with sadness that I write to inform you of the passing of a colleague, acquaintance and friend, Mr Peter Flandorp, who served the University of Cape Town for over 40 years.

Mr Flandorp joined UCT on 21 January 1975, and started in the post room of what was then the Buildings and Services Department. He then went on to serve as the building supervisor for Bremner Building and spent some time on Hiddingh Campus.

Around the time of the outsourcing process, Mr Flandorp joined the UCT libraries. With the change from Buildings and Services to Properties and Services, Mr Flandorp returned, taking up the post of Service Controller, again based in Bremner.

Mr Flandorp was popular inside Bremner, the post rooms and within Properties and Services. He will be missed by all.

The funeral service will be held this Saturday, 21 May 2016. Viewing will take place at 5 Thomas Close, Grassy Park from 08:00. The service will start at 10:00 at the New Apostolic Church, Corner of 8th Avenue and Dieman Road, Grassy Park.

On behalf of the campus community I extend sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Mr Flandorp.

Sincerely

Dr Max Price
Vice-Chancellor
