Incentive: Carol Ojwang's award recognises her top-class support of international students at UCT.

Carol Ojwang has won second place in the International Education Association of South Africa/Golden Key awards for the most outstanding international student support services individual, 2007.

She is manager of the cohort of international full-degree students in the International Academic Programmes Office.

"The award inspires me to continue to enhance and diversify my role in providing support to international students at UCT and to continue developing professionally," she said.

"I'm most appreciative of the scope and opportunities that IAPO has provided me over the years in enhancing services towards international students. It's humbling to be able to make a contribution and be acknowledged for it, and an award like this gives me additional incentive to work harder."

The entries were adjudicated by an independent panel. In addition to a plaque, Ojwang received a monetary prize. This will pay for her attendance at a conference in the area of student support services.
