ATHLETICS: At the muddy and final cross-country league on 4 August in Fish Hoek, the UCT women's team again reigned supreme, confirming their status as the Western Province 8km women's league champions. Ineke Nel, Amy Aronson, Sarah Jackson and Emma Biggs made up the team. The men recorded their best finish for the year, taking fourth spot in the 12km race, ending in sixth place for the season. And at the Stax Video 10km race in Pinelands on the same day, the UCT men won the team competition, the team made up of Nelson Bass, Edward Motlapema, Damian Will and James Stutterheim.

RUGBY: In its first game for this half of the year, the FNB UCT XV beat bottom-placed Collegians by 22-7 in a home game on 3 August. That win has now pushed UCT up to fifth spot on the Super League log, with 31 points from its seven wins and three defeats for the season. Stellenbosch on 45 points and Hamiltons on 43 lead the log.

HOCKEY: In the men's Grand Challenge competition, UCT B lost 0-6 to Western Province Cricket Club B. In the women's league, UCT A drew one-all against Central, while UCT B was thrashed 1-5 by WPCC B.
