New season for June graduands

11 June 2007

It may be the smaller sibling of the grand December occasion and the iconic ivy may be sparse and brown, but the June graduation will spell the start of a new season for UCT's 1 092 graduands who will receive their diplomas and degrees on Friday.

Leading the way to the platform is the commerce faculty with 537 graduands, followed by humanities with 203, science with 98, law with 91, engineering and the built environment with 87 and health sciences with 76.

And while the December graduations herald week-long festivities, the mid-year graduation is traditionally a time for capping postgraduate students.

The postgraduate numbers for the various faculties are: 74 for engineering and the built environment; 75 for health sciences, 73 for law, 154 for humanities, 318 for commerce, and 73 for science.
