The University of Cape Town conveys best wishes to Chancellor Precious Moloi-Motsepe, who turns 60 on 2 August 2022.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng said: “On behalf of the University of Cape Town, I wish you, our Chancellor a happy 60th birthday. We wish you a year ahead that is full of opportunity for you to express your love for Africa, and to receive that love back in manifold ways. Your birthday reminds us to focus not just on what you do, but on who you are.”

Moloi-Motsepe, who took over as Chancellor on 1 January 2020, has been exemplary in words and in deed.

“By your words, actions and example you teach us what it means to be a proud African who is also humble in serving others; a passionate leader who applies not just her intellect but also her heart to addressing the many needs she sees; a strong mother whose arms stretch to embrace her continent. Thank you for everything you do for UCT, for higher education, for South Africa and for the continent,” said Phakeng.
