Call for UCT curriculum change grant applications

12 July 2022 | Acting DVC Prof Harsha Kathard

Dear colleagues

We invite individual academics to apply for the University of Cape Town (UCT) curriculum change grants, to be used to support teams with teaching and related costs, aimed at making teaching at the university more effective.

This grant is available to support collaborations at course or programme levels that plan to change curricula and/or courses aimed at improving student learning. These collaborations must fit into a broader faculty process around curriculum review and will require a letter of support from your Deputy Dean of Teaching & Learning, or the teaching and learning structure in your faculty. Current work in designing curricula and materials as well as exploring the use of open educational resources could be considered. Grants of up to R50 000 are available to support this work.

Please e-mail Cindy Gilbert declaring your intention to submit by 18 July 2022. You will be invited to attend a briefing session on 25 July 2022. The closing date for all applications is 1 September 2022 on Form TGA2.

The Teaching Awards and Grants Sub-committee, which reports to the Senate Teaching and Learning Committee, oversees this process. The grants are funded by the Department of Higher Education and Training’s University Capacity Development Programme.

Sincerely

Professor Harsha Kathard
Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Teaching and Learning
