In remembrance: Emelia Elizabeth Links

22 April 2022

Dear colleagues and students

It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of our colleague, Mrs Emelia Elizabeth Links (41), on Monday, 4 April 2022.

Mrs Links joined the university on 1 June 2011 and worked as a campus cleaner. She first worked for Supercare hygiene services for two years before she became a member of the Properties and Services (P&S) team and was based on upper campus.

She will be remembered by her colleagues, family and friends for her cheerfulness, helpfulness and for not being one to complain. She had a wonderful team spirit, did not stay upset for long and was a confidant to many of her colleagues in P&S. Her colleagues say that she will be missed more than words can express. For many besides being a co-worker, she was also a good friend as well.

Mrs Links is survived by her husband Clinton Links, her father Mr George and four children: sons Clayton, Graydian and Glenziro and daughter Cliché.

Her funeral was held at the AME Church in Clarke Estate, Elsies River on Saturday, 16 April 2022.

The university has reached out to offer support to the Links family and during this time of bereavement our sincere condolences go out to them and all who knew and loved Mrs Links.

Sincerely

The UCT Executive
