Rollout of the Survey for Performance Management, Reward and Recognition

28 October 2021 | Dr Reno Morar, COO

Dear colleagues

The Performance Management, Reward and Recognition Systems (PMRRS) Review Project Team have been working to prepare a survey for the first phase in the review of the PMRRS across UCT staff categories. Representatives of the various constituencies and stakeholders serve as members of the Project Team.

I am pleased to announce that the survey went live on 27 October 2021 and is accessible and available online to all staff members across staffing categories and levels until 10 November 2021.

The Project Team partnered with PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in 2020 to design and administer the survey. The intention of the survey is to gather information from staff across UCT on their experience of the PMRRS at UCT and provide forward-looking input to shape a future system(s). Once the initial survey data has been analysed, PwC will conduct focus groups with various stakeholders to explore more deeply the themes that emerge from the online survey data.

All information in the survey report will be anonymised. Ethical approval for the survey has been granted by the CHED Ethics Committee and participation in the survey is voluntary.

The survey does not replace the current processes but is rather to be used for input into future systems and processes.

Survey rollout

The survey is accessible in English, Afrikaans, and isiXhosa on PwC’s online survey platform.

All survey responses are anonymous at the individual level. Identifying markers will be by Faculty/PASS Department, staff level and staff category. The data will be aggregated when it is reported back to UCT and we will not be able to identify individual responses. All data collected on individuals will be stored safely and securely and will be used in accordance with national regulations. Data will only be used to enrich the survey analysis and reporting.

We hope the anonymity will encourage participation and honest contributions.

Survey completion reminders

Communication will be sent out to keep the UCT community up to date with participation numbers and to encourage survey completion.

Key dates

The survey runs for two weeks from 27 October to 10 November 2021. In addition, there will be weekly updates and reminders.

Conclusion

All staff are encouraged to participate. Please take the time to complete the online survey and encourage colleagues in the university to complete the survey.

Please contact your Human Resource Business Partner with any questions. Should you wish to opt out of the survey please click on the survey link and select “opt out”.

Sincerely

Dr Reno Morar
Chief Operating Officer
