07 October 2021

Dear colleagues and students

We are filled with deep sadness as we inform you of the passing of our student, Ms Talent Tshuma (21), on Thursday, 23 September 2021.

Ms Tshuma was a second-year audiology student in the Division of Communication Sciences and Disorders, within the Department of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.

She will be remembered for her diligence, her care for her family and friends, her outgoing nature and affection for bright colours. Ms Tshuma is mourned by her family, fellow students and staff of the department, faculty and university as a whole.

She is survived by her mother, Ms Loveness Matombo and father, Mr Tshuma.

Her memorial service was held by the Faculty of Health Sciences on Thursday, 30 September at 18:30. The funeral will take place at a later time in Harare, Zimbabwe.

The university has contacted the Tshuma family to offer support during this difficult time. Our sincere condolences go out to them and all who knew and loved her.

Sincerely

The UCT Executive
