In remembrance: Nowelcome Madondile

It is with heavy hearts that we inform you of the passing of our colleague, Ms Nowelcome Madondile (53), on Tuesday, 14 April 2026 due to natural causes.
Ms Madondile joined the University of Cape Town (UCT) in July 2016 as a student housing cleaner at Harold Cressy Residence.
Her colleagues described her as someone who was humble, with a positive spirit and a calm presence in every situation. They said she cherished being at home and spending meaningful time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Vuyokazi, Sakhikhaya, Nzikayise, Lithamsanqa and Penny; and grandchildren, Buhle, Kungawo, Alutha, Ovoyo and Olwenkosi.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, 25 April 2026 in her hometown, kuGatyane (Willowvale) in the Eastern Cape.
The university has reached out to offer support to the Madondile family, and our heartfelt condolences go out to them and all who knew our late colleague.
