11 May 2021

Dear colleagues and students

We are deeply saddened to convey the news of the passing of our colleague, Mr Clive van der Westhuizen (57) on Friday, 30 April 2021 following a heart attack.

Mr Van der Westhuizen worked as a general assistant in the Properties and Services Department. He joined the university in 2010.

Colleagues will remember him as a very respectful, friendly and humble person. He was a hard worker who was always willing to assist.

He is survived by his sister Sandy and four brothers – Jacobus, Raymond, Claud and Simon, and his funeral was held on Saturday, 8 May 2021.

The university has reached out to offer support to the Van der Westhuizen family and our sincere condolences go out to them and all who knew and loved him during this time of bereavement.

Sincerely

The UCT Executive
