Opportunities for lecturer development in a national initiative

Dear colleagues

Professors, associate professors, senior lecturers, lecturers and junior lecturers are invited to apply for the Higher Education Leadership and Management (HELM) University Lecturer Development Programme (ULDP).

Universities South Africa (USAf) is inviting applications from academics to take part in this programme.

The programme has a master trainer approach and will have 100 academic staff in the first cohort, with a strong focus on technology-enhanced teaching and learning approaches and strategies. Following a regional breakdown, the lecturers’ capacity development component of the programme will target up to 900 academic staff in an online and hybrid format.

The content areas of the programme are:

  • teaching and learning
  • academic development
  • curriculum development and assessment
  • research and scholarship
  • ICT and data analytics
  • educational leadership
  • academic entrepreneurialism
  • personal development.

The first part of the programme will start in May 2021.

Interested academics must complete the relevant forms and submit them to the Office of the DVC: Teaching and Learning via email by no later than Monday, 22 February. Incomplete forms will not be accepted.
