In remembrance: Raymond De Wet

27 January 2021

Dear colleagues and students

It is with immense sorrow that we share news of the passing of our colleague, Mr Raymond De Wet (58), on 19 January 2021 due to COVID-19 complications.

Mr De Wet joined UCT on 1 February 1991 and worked as a departmental assistant in the Faculty of Law. He has been described by his colleagues as a very humble and peaceful person. His absence will be felt by both staff and students in the faculty, who have always found him to be helpful in their interactions.

He leaves behind his wife, Bronville, and two children, Stacey and Duwyne.

His funeral will take place on Wednesday, 27 January 2021 in Kuils River, Western Cape.

The university has reached out to offer support to the De Wet family, and our heartfelt condolences go out to them and all who knew Mr De Wet.

Sincerely

The UCT Executive
