In remembrance: Vivian Caroline Peters

18 January 2021

Dear colleagues and students

It is with a deep sense of sadness we write to share news of the passing of our colleague, Ms Vivian Caroline Peters (63), on 12 January 2021 due to COVID-19 complications.

Ms Peters joined UCT in 2012 and worked as a food service assistant in the Department of Student Housing at Clarendon Hall.

She has been described as loyal, humble and dedicated to her work. She was a perfectionist in all that she did, and many of her colleagues learnt this attribute from her. Her friendly smile will be dearly missed and the love she had for all her co-workers and students.

Ms Peters leaves behind her three children Quinton, Janine and Warren and eight grandchildren.

The family is currently busy with the memorial service and funeral arrangements. Details will be confirmed in due course.

The university has reached out to offer support to the Peters family and our most heartfelt condolences go out to them and all who knew our late colleague.

Sincerely

The UCT Executive
