In remembrance: Zwelandile Richard Fana

06 January 2021

Dear colleagues and students

It is with heavy hearts that we inform you of the passing of our colleague, Mr Zwelandile Richard Fana (60), in the early hours of 4 January 2021.

Mr Fana, who has been part of the UCT community for over 40 years, served the university exceptionally well in his role in the Department of Student Housing. He held the role of food service cook at Rochester Hall.

A dedicated colleague who showed great passion in his work, he has been described as a gentle, loving and humble old soul with a good sense of humour. Both his family and colleagues will miss him dearly.

Mr Fana is survived by his wife Nombongo, his sister Nombeko and brother Phillimon.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday, 16 January 2021 from 9:00 at Makuzeni Location in Alice, Eastern Cape.

As they grieve the loss of their loved one, our thoughts are with the Fana family. The university has reached out to the family to offer our condolences to them during this very difficult time.

Sincerely

The UCT Executive
